Washington County Fair Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Washington County Fair
Introduction
The Washington County Fair Association supports agricultural, horticultural, and home economics education and promotes youth development through scholarships and educational programs. As part of that mission, we offer an annual scholarship for outstanding local students planning to pursue postsecondary education.
Application deadline
All application materials must be received by 4:00 PM on March 19, 2026.
How to submit
Email the complete packet (including all attachments) to madalynn@washingtoncofair.com, or deliver it in person to the Washington County Fair Office at 1305 E. Blue Bell Road, Suite 112, Brenham. Please do not turn in the completed packet to school counselors.
Who is eligible
To qualify, applicants must meet the following:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- At the time of application, satisfy both of these conditions:
- Residency/Schooling: Live in Washington County, or attend a Washington County school, or be enrolled in an approved home-school program; and
- Membership: Be a Washington County 4‑H member or be an FFA member enrolled, attending, and in good standing at a Washington County school that has a chartered FFA chapter.
- Be a high school graduation candidate in the year you apply and intend to enroll in an accredited college, university, or postsecondary trade school. (Note: scholarships will be void if not funded within four (4) years of the award date.)
- Have exhibited as a junior division exhibitor at the Washington County Fair in at least two of the past four years.
Required materials (must be included for consideration)
- A completed application form with every required attachment included.
- A one-page essay (single side only) describing how the Washington County Fair has affected you.
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher or principal.
- High school transcript and college entrance exam scores (if you have taken them).
Program-specific sections
- Bucket Calf Mentors: To be eligible for a Bucket Calf Mentor award, you must complete the Bucket Calf section of the application.
- Champion Drive Buddies: To be considered for a Champion Drive Buddy award, you must complete the Champion Drive section.
Selection process
Applications may be reviewed using submitted materials and may also include an in-person interview as part of the evaluation.
Award payment
Scholarship recipients must provide proof of enrollment to the Fair Association. Payments will be sent directly to the school’s scholarship/financial aid office.
